Nominator's project description
| Professor Capitanio is an internationally leading geodynamicist. His pioneering work on mantle convection, plate tectonics and lithosphere–mantle coupling has fundamentally advanced the understanding of earth and planetary evolution through quantitative, physics-based modeling. During his stay in Germany, he will conduct research on rapid vertical surface motions in active tectonic regions to improve the assessment of related natural hazards. |
